https://mathjournal.unram.ac.id/index.php/Rengganis/article/view/503

Numeracy skills are fundamental abilities that every student must possess to understand mathematical concepts. Indonesia ranks 74th out of 79 countries in terms of numeracy proficiency, indicating the low ability of students to comprehend basic mathematical concepts and solve numeracy-based problems. According to the 2024 National Assessment results, the majority of students in this region fall into the low category for numeracy literacy. This is further supported by data from SMPN 16 Mataram, where field observations reveal that many students struggle with mastering basic arithmetic operations such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division, which are foundational for understanding more advanced mathematical concepts. Therefore, this community service aims to help students develop skills in understanding and operating basic algebraic concepts, such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division of algebraic expressions. This service is conducted at SMPN 16 Mataram, located in Mataram city, with the participants being 23 students from class VII of SMP in Mataram. The data used in this service activity is sourced from the implementation of the Madrasah Indonesia Competency Assessment (AKM) guidance activity to improve students' literacy and numeracy competencies at SMPN 16 Mataram, conducted by 7th grade mathematics teacher. The evaluation of the activity was done through interviews with both the teacher and the students of grade 7th. The results of this activity show a significant improvement in the numeracy skills of students in algebraic arithmetic operations at SMPN 16 Mataram, class VII. This improvement is measurable, with the average score initially at 40, which then increased to 70 after the implementation of the program or community service activities. This indicates that students who previously had difficulty understanding and mastering algebraic arithmetic operations, such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division with variables or algebraic expressions, made significant progress after being given guidance and practice. Therefore, the addition of numeracy-focused programs is effective in helping students solve problems.
Nurzilatul Aini, S. Antya Rohmawati, Tri Saputri

Currently, the complexity of the problems faced by the younger generation is increasing, including the lack of ability to explore potential and create opportunities in the environment. This results in a lack of support for work programs, which ultimately hinders the progress of society. One effective solution is training and assistance in developing strategies and managing youth programs. This activity is carried out with the aim of encouraging increased understanding of management and skills in preparing strategic plans, especially for youth organizations. The involvement of 25-30 participants in the Bende Seguguk youth organization in Ogan Komering Ilir, using training and workshop methods, consultations, FDGs, and measuring results through pre-tests and post-tests, has shown a significant increase. Before the training, only 9% of participants understood the strategic plan. After the training, this figure jumped to 93%. This success emphasizes the importance of strategic planning in organizations. Increasing understanding and management skills will enable youth organizations to better face challenges, as well as optimize their potential to have a positive impact on local community development.
Mardianto, Rahmat Rafinzar, Risky Ghoffar Ismail, Khairunnas, Elivia Pasma Putri

https://mathjournal.unram.ac.id/index.php/Rengganis/article/view/533

The border region between Thailand and Malaysia has long been a conflict-prone area, particularly in Southern Thailand, where demands for independence have arisen due to restrictions on the use of the Malay language and Islamic practices. This study examines the impact of an international community service program conducted through a collaboration between Universiti Muhammadiyah Malaysia (UMAM), Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM), and universities from Indonesia. The program aims to empower the community both culturally and economically by reintroducing the Malay language and providing eco-print training as a sustainable entrepreneurial skill. This research employs a qualitative approach using the Participatory Action Research (PAR) method, involving interviews, direct observations, and Focus Group Discussions (FGD) with students at Pattani Learning School, Pattani. Data were collected to evaluate students' perceptions of Malay language preservation and eco-print training as an entrepreneurial skill. The findings indicate that the eco-print training equips students with new skills that have the potential to support their economic independence. Moreover, the reintroduction of the Malay language was positively received by participants, reinforcing their cultural identity. Students demonstrated a high level of enthusiasm for both aspects of the program, highlighting the importance of culture-based education in enhancing their understanding and appreciation of local heritage. This program demonstrates that cultural and economic empowerment can play a crucial role in language preservation and community well-being. The integration of eco-print training with Malay language revitalization can serve as a sustainable community service model in conflict areas, fostering peace and sustainable development in Southern Thailand.
Menur Kusuma, Sri Rahayu

https://mathjournal.unram.ac.id/index.php/Rengganis/article/view/536

Plastic waste is a major environmental problem because it is a type of waste that is very difficult to decompose. The lack of educational activities involving children in plastic waste processing results in low awareness and limited involvement in efforts to maintain environmental sustainability. This leads to a lack of environmental responsibility among the younger generation, who should be the agents of change for a better future. The purpose of this community service activity is to provide training to children in Gampong Bakoy, Ingin Jaya District, Aceh Besar, regarding the impact of plastic waste on the environment and creative ways to process it. Through this training, it is hoped that children can develop an enviromentally conscious character from an early age. This activity was attended by children from TPA Pelita Hati, aged 5 to 12 years. The activity was carried out over two days. Based on the evaluation results, data showed an increase in understanding of the impact, types, and classification of waste (98%), an increase in enviromentally conscious behavior (97%), and an increase in children’s creativity in making products from plastic waste (96%).
Syarifah Farissi, Nurhamida, Hasna Humaira, Nurul Qolbiya
