Plagiarism Policy
Griya Journal of Mathematics Education and Application is committed to maintaining academic integrity and preventing plagiarism in all manuscripts submitted for publication.
All submitted manuscripts must be original works and must not contain plagiarism, self-plagiarism, duplicate publication, or inappropriate reuse of previously published material.
1. Definition of Plagiarism
Plagiarism includes, but is not limited to:
- copying words, sentences, paragraphs, data, figures, tables, or other materials from another source without proper citation or acknowledgment;
- using ideas, theories, concepts, methods, or interpretations developed by others without appropriate attribution;
- paraphrasing material from another source without proper citation;
- presenting another person's work, data, or findings as one's own;
- reproducing substantial parts of previously published work without appropriate acknowledgment;
- submitting substantially similar manuscripts to more than one journal;
- reusing substantial parts of an author's own previously published work without proper citation or disclosure.
Authors are responsible for ensuring that all sources used in the manuscript are properly acknowledged and cited.
2. Similarity Screening
All manuscripts submitted to Griya Journal of Mathematics Education and Application are subject to similarity screening using Turnitin.
Similarity checking may be conducted at the following stages:
-
Initial Submission Stage
Manuscripts may be screened before being forwarded to reviewers. -
Revision Stage
Revised manuscripts may be rechecked when substantial revisions have been made or when the Editorial Team considers another similarity assessment necessary. -
Pre-Publication Stage
A final similarity check may be conducted before an accepted manuscript is published.
The purpose of similarity screening is to identify potentially inappropriate textual overlap and to support editorial assessment of manuscript originality.
3. Interpretation of Similarity Reports
The Editorial Team does not determine plagiarism solely on the basis of the overall similarity percentage generated by Turnitin.
Similarity reports are evaluated carefully by considering:
- the sources of similarity;
- the location and extent of matching text;
- whether quotations and references are properly cited;
- similarity in standard terminology or methodological expressions;
- the amount of overlap with the authors' previous publications; and
- the overall context of the manuscript.
A high similarity score does not automatically indicate plagiarism, and a low similarity score does not automatically guarantee that a manuscript is free from plagiarism.
The final determination is made through editorial assessment of the similarity report and the manuscript.
4. Similarity Threshold
As a general editorial guideline, manuscripts should demonstrate an acceptable level of originality.
Manuscripts with substantial or inappropriate textual similarity may be returned to the authors for revision or rejected.
The Editorial Team reserves the right to evaluate similarity on a case-by-case basis, considering both the overall similarity level and the nature of the matched content.
5. Self-Plagiarism and Redundant Publication
Authors must appropriately cite their own previously published work when it is used in a submitted manuscript.
Substantial reuse of previously published text, data, figures, tables, or research findings without proper citation or disclosure may be considered self-plagiarism or redundant publication.
Authors must not submit manuscripts that substantially duplicate work already published or simultaneously under consideration by another journal.
6. Actions in Cases of Suspected Plagiarism
If suspected plagiarism or inappropriate textual overlap is identified before publication, the Editorial Team may:
- request clarification from the authors;
- require revision of the manuscript;
- request additional citations or acknowledgment;
- reject the manuscript; or
- take other appropriate editorial action.
If plagiarism is identified after publication, the journal may take appropriate corrective action, including:
- publication of a correction;
- publication of an expression of concern;
- article retraction; or
- other measures necessary to maintain the integrity of the scholarly record.
7. Author Responsibility
Authors are responsible for ensuring that:
- the submitted manuscript is original;
- all sources are appropriately cited;
- quotations are clearly identified;
- previously published material is properly acknowledged;
- the manuscript does not contain fabricated or falsified material; and
- the manuscript complies with the journal's publication ethics policies.
Submission of a manuscript to Griya Journal of Mathematics Education and Application indicates that the authors agree to the journal's plagiarism and similarity screening procedures.
8. Similarity Report
The Editorial Team may provide similarity-related feedback to authors when revision is required.
A similarity report may also be made available to authors upon request, subject to the journal's editorial procedures and access to the similarity-checking system.
